Online sessions take place using Google Meet, so you can attend your therapy session from home or another private place where you feel comfortable.
Before your appointment, I'll send you a secure Google Meet link. At the time of your session, simply click the link to join. You don't need a Google account and there's nothing you need to download — you can join through a supported web browser.
What do I need for an online session?
You'll need:
A phone, tablet, laptop or computer with a camera and microphone
A reliable internet connection
A quiet, private space where you won't be disturbed
Headphones or earphones if you'd prefer some extra privacy
Your Google Meet link, which I'll send before the session
I'd also recommend joining a few minutes before your first appointment so you can check that your camera, microphone and sound are working.
Do I need to be good with technology?
Not at all.
Google Meet is straightforward to use. I'll send you a link before your appointment and you simply click it to join the session.
If you're unsure about anything before your first online appointment, just let me know and I can talk you through it.

The first session gives us time to talk about what's brought you to therapy, what has been happening and what you'd like to change. There's no expectation that you need to tell me everything at once. We'll begin to understand what's going on and what you'd like to get from therapy.
-
It's an opportunity to have a brief chat before deciding whether you'd like to book a therapy session. You can tell me a little about what you're looking for, ask any questions and see whether you feel comfortable working with me. There's no obligation to book afterwards.
-
Sessions are £50 and last approximately 50 - 55 minutes.
-
No. You can contact me directly yourself. You don't need to be referred by your GP or another healthcare professional.

We don't need to have a particular diagnosis or label before considering therapy. Sometimes we simply recognise that something isn't working for us or that we'd like some help understanding what we're experiencing.

I work with adults experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety and excessive worry, panic attacks, social anxiety, phobias and fears, stress, low mood and depression, low self-esteem, overthinking, negative thinking and avoidance.
If you're unsure whether what you're experiencing is something I can help with, you're welcome to get in touch and ask.

I offer in-person CBT sessions in Lanarkshire and the surrounding areas.
I also provide online CBT sessions for adults across the UK.
For some people, online sessions are simply more convenient or easier to fit around work, family and other commitments.

There isn't one answer that applies to everyone.
How long we work together will depend on what you're experiencing, what you'd like to achieve and how things progress. We can discuss this together and regularly review how therapy is going.
-
That's completely understandable, particularly if you've never spoken to a therapist before.
You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what to say or where to begin. Part of my role is helping us make sense of what's happening and deciding together where to start.
-
Sometimes.
CBT isn't only about what happens during the therapy session. We may agree on things to notice, practice or try between sessions.
These aren't tests or something you can pass or fail. They're simply opportunities to put what we're discussing into practice in everyday life.
-
What we discuss in therapy is treated confidentially.
There are some circumstances where confidentiality may need to be broken, particularly if there are serious concerns about someone's safety or the safety of another person. I'll explain confidentiality and its limits clearly when we begin working together.
-
That's okay.
Therapy is a choice, and you're not committing yourself to a particular number of sessions. If something doesn't feel right or you'd like to stop, we can talk about it.

You can complete my short enquiry form and tell me briefly what you'd like some help with.
I'll then get back to you to arrange a brief chat.
You don't need to have everything figured out before getting in touch.
